Alanna's passion is helping others to communicate. She excels at developing relationships and connecting with her clients to ignite the spark of communication!
Alanna MacGurry is a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist with more than 20 years of experience working with children. After completing her Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Alanna began her career working with young children that had communication needs in hospital and early education settings. She worked alongside Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, embracing a wholistic approach to working with these children and their families.
Using programs such as Hanen - It Takes Two to Talk and Learning Language and Loving It, she teamed with teachers and parents to build language, speech and pre-reading skills in children's early years when their growth potential was the highest.
She expanded her wholistic approach to working with others by studying yoga and obtaining a certificate in yoga teacher training. She has blended this practice into her play-based approach through encouraging movement and imagination in her clients while developing speech and language skills.
Alanna continuously updates her skills and knowledge in the most current assessment and treatment practices for children and adults including: training in fluency (stuttering), social communication, speech disorders and alternative communication (signs, pictures and devices).
